Born in St. Louis, MO. William Cayton's partner in Reel Sports, Inc., he edited Cayton's LEGENDARY CHAMPIONS (1968) and directed the documentaries A.K.A. CASSIUS CLAY (1970) and KNOCKOUT (1977), which Cayton produced. JACK JOHNSON, which Cayton directed, was his only producing credit.

Jacobs was elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1993.
