Larry Kramer
(1935 -     )

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Entered British films in 1967 as producer and additional dialogue writer for HERE WE GO ROUND THE MULBERRY BUSH. He adapted D.H. Lawrence's novel Women in Love and produced Ken Russell's film (1970). He holds the dubious distinction of being the man who wrote the screenplay of Ross Hunter's ill-fated production of LOST HORIZON (1973). In 1987, Kramer founded ACT UP, an AIDS advocacy and protest group. He adapted his plays The Normal Heart and The Destiny of Me for television in 1993 for the BBC programme "Larry Kramer". He has appeared on-camera in a number of films: COMMON THREADS: STORIES FROM THE QUILT (1989), AIDS-TRILOGIE: DIE POSITIV / POSITIVE (1990), "Larry Kramer" (1993, TV), AFTER STONEWALL (1999) and THE PAPP PROJECT (2001).
