Peter Lamont

Biography and photo from Bond 20 - the Unofficial Site

Began in British films as a set dresser in the early 1960s. Apart from his absence from TOMORROW NEVER DIES (due to his Oscar®-winning work on TITANIC), Lamont is highly experienced in his field and has worked as production designer on every "Bond" film since FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (1981), and in other capacities, such as Art Director, since the Connery era (1965).

A Production Designer's job is both a creative and a practical one. An example of his work might be the complex internal design of the villain's lair, or the inside of a nuclear submarine. Responsible for "putting every pound spent up on the screen" - there is no one better than Peter Lamont at this job.

He's also worked extensively with James Cameron (ALIENS, TRUE LIES and TITANIC). Other notable production designer credits include TOP SECRET! (1984), CONSUMING PASSIONS (1988) and WING COMMANDER (1999). As art director: SLEUTH (1972), THE DOVE (1974), THE SEVEN-PER-CENT SOLUTION (1976), THE BOYS FROM BRAZIL (1978) and SPHINX (1981).
