Born Hugh Russell Lloyd in London, England. Started editing British films in 1937 with THE SQUEAKER. He had a long association with John Huston, editing MOBY DICK (1956), HEAVEN KNOWS, MR. ALLISON (1957), THE ROOTS OF HEAVEN (1958), THE UNFORGIVEN (1960), REFLECTIONS IN A GOLDEN EYE (1967), A WALK WITH LOVE AND DEATH and SINFUL DAVEY (both 1969), THE KREMLIN LETTER (1970), THE LAST RUN (1971), THE MACKINTOSH MAN (1973), THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING (1975). Other notable editing credits include THE LION (1962), OF HUMAN BONDAGE (1964), IN CELEBRATION (1975), THE FIENDISH PLOT OF DR. FU MANCHU (1980), the TV mini-series "Christopher Columbus" (1985) and his last film ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS (1986).
