John Longenecker

Grew up in southern California; father is talent agent C. Robert Longenecker; mother is MGM film star Ruth Hussey. He attended the UCLA Film School and the USC Cinema Department. In 1970 he won an Academy Award for producing THE RESURRECTION OF BRONCHO BILLY (1970), which he also wrote. The film starred Johnny Crawford and Kristin Harmon and was released by Universal. It is a sepia-toned tribute to the Old West and westerns, as a young man dreams of being a cowboy in the Old West, but lives in a present day big city . Longenecker was an AFI intern on THE STING (1973) and was a casting director for THE TRIAL OF BILLY JACK (1974).

As a cinematographer, he has filmed music videos for director Dwight Yoakam. He shot Gigi Gaston's THE CREAM WILL RISE, a 1998 documentary about the turbulent and troubled side of singer/songwriter Sophie B. Hawkins. Other cinematography credits include AGRO & YORK: MOON MONKEYS (also producer), and the videos "Dirty Life and Times with Billy Bob Thornton, Dwight Yoakam and Warren Zevon" (2002) and "Warren Zevon: Keep Me in Your Heart" (2003).
