Born Sylvia Reuben Lee in New York City; trained at the Actors Studio, New York. Stage-trained actress who first gained attention with a brief appearance in MIDNIGHT COWBOY (1969) in which she had (what was up to that time) the shortest performance ever nominated for an Oscar®. (Beatrice Straight and Judi Dench have subsequently been nominated -- and received Supporting Actress Awards -- for performances that had less time on-screen.)

Miles often plays brassy, vulgar types, and gave notable performances in WALL STREET (1987) and CROSSING DELANCEY (1988). Other notable credits include MURDER, INC. (1960), PARRISH (1961), TERROR IN THE CITY (1964), HEAT (1972), THE GREAT SCOUT & CATHOUSE THURSDAY (1976), SHALIMAR (1978), ZERO TO SIXTY (1978), THE FUNHOUSE (1981), EVIL UNDER THE SUN (1982), CRITICAL CONDITION and SLEEPING BEAUTY (also 1987), SPIKE OF BENSONHURST (1988), SHE-DEVIL (1989), DENISE CALLS UP (1995), THE BOYS BEHIND THE DESK (2000), HIGH TIMES POTLUCK (2002), ROSE'S (2003), and GO GO TALES (2007).

At one time, she was married to NYC radio personality Ted Brown.
