Born Ronald Moodnick in London. Sad-faced character comedian of British stage, TV, and films. He played Fagin in both the stage and screen versions of OLIVER! (1968). He declined the opportunity to become the star of the popular BBC series "Doctor Who," after the departure of Patrick Troughton in 1969. Other films include DAVID COPPERFIELD and THE TWELVE CHAIRS (both 1970), THE STRANGE CASE OF THE END OF CIVILIZATION AS WE KNOW IT (1977), WRONG IS RIGHT (1982), HOW'S BUSINESS (1991), EMILY'S GHOST (1992), A KID IN KING ARTHUR'S COURT (1995), QUALITY TIME (1996), THE 3 KINGS (2000), CHIPSTICKS and REVELATION (both 2001), PARADISE GROVE (2003) and LOST DOGS and MOUSSAKA & CHIPS (both 2005). Moody has appeared frequently on British television.

He lives in Southgate, London, England, with his wife (since 1985), Therese Blackbourn Moody, and their six children.
