Born Christopher Sarandon in Beckley, WV; educated at University of West Virginia & Catholic University, Washington, DC. Character actor who first came to attention as Al Pacino's overwrought gay lover in DOG DAY AFTERNOON (1975).

Other notable credits include LIPSTICK (1976), THE SENTINEL (1977), THE OSTERMAN WEEKEND (1983), PROTOCOL (1984), FRIGHT NIGHT (1985), THE PRINCESS BRIDE (1987), CHILD'S PLAY (1988), WHISPERS (1989), TIM BURTON'S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (1993, as the voice of Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King), JUST CAUSE (1995). He has appeared extensively on television, in series, mini-series and made-for-TV movies.

Formerly married (1968-1979) to actress Susan Sarandon. Married to actress Joanna Gleason (1994 - present).
