Suzanne Schiffman
(1929 - 2001)

Born in Paris, France. Started out as a script girl in French films in 1960. Became script supervisor, then assistant to the director and started writing in 1970. She co-wrote 8 films with François Truffaut between 1973 and 1983: LA NUIT AMÉRICAINE / DAY FOR NIGHT (1973), L'HISTOIRE D'ADÈLE H. (1975), L'ARGENT DE POCHE / SMALL CHANGE (1976), L'HOMME QUI AIMAIT LES FEMMES / THE MAN WHO LOVED WOMEN (1977), L'AMOUR EN FUITE / LOVE ON THE RUN (1979), LE DERNIER MÉTRO / THE LAST METRO (1980), LA FEMME D'Â CÔTÉ / THE WOMAN NEXT DOOR (1981) and VIVEMENT DIMANCHE! / CONFIDENTIALLY YOURS (1983). After Truffaut's death in 1984, she continued to write and adapt screenplays, but not as frequently as before.
