Erich Segal

Born in Brooklyn, NY. Graduated from Harvard University, B.A., M.A. & Ph.D.; has taught Greek and Latin literature at Harvard, Yale and Princeton. He first made his name as an academic writer in the field of classical literature before moving on to write the book that made him famour -- Love Story. It was published in 1970 and went on to sell over 20 million copies worldwide. He adapted it to the screen in 1970. Other notable screenwriting credits, alone or in collaboration, include YELLOW SUBMARINE (1968), R.P.M. and THE GAMES (both 1970), JENNIFER ON MY MIND (1971), OLIVER'S STORY (1978, also novel), A CHANGE OF SEASONS (1980, story), MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD (1983, novel) and ONLY LOVE (1998, TV, book).

As of 2001, he was a fellow at Wolfston College, Oxford, and lived in Oxford, England, with his wife and two daughters.
