Veteran Hollywood sound engineer and re-recording mixer who entered American film with ROSE OF THE YUKON at Republic Pictures in 1949. Other notable (non-nominated) sound credits include GHOST OF ZORRO and STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO (both 1949), CANADIAN MOUNTIES VS. ATOMIC INVADERS (1953), STREET OF DARKNESS (1958), $ (1971), LOST HORIZON (1973), BLAZING SADDLES (1974), THE DROWNING POOL (1975), THE AMITYVILLE HORROR (1979), CADDYSHACK and THE FOG (both 1980), BRAINSTORM and UNCOMMON VALOR (both 1983), ANGEL, POLICE ACADEMY, PURPLE HEARTS, FEAR CITY and FINAL MISSION (all 1984), OUT OF CONTROL and BETTER OFF DEAD... (both 1985), DEATH OF AN ANGEL, THE BOSS' WIFE, NATIVE SON and THE MALIBU BIKINI SHOP (all 1986), THE OUTING (1987), and his last picture, THE LORDS OF MAGICK (1989).

Son of sound re-recording mixer Dick Tyler Sr., who was at Republic Pictures from 1939 to 1957.
