Born in London, England. Elevated to lighting cameraman late in the 60s, he rapidly established a reputation as a highly gifted color cinematographer and has since worked on a number of major productions on both sides of the Atlantic: SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY (1971), THE EXORCIST (1973), THE WIND AND THE LION (1975), VOYAGE OF THE DAMNED (1976), among others.

Other notable credits include THE MAGUS (1968), POPE JOAN (1972), NIGHT WATCH (1973), MONSIGNOR (1982), THE SURVIVORS (1983), ELENI (1986) and DRIFTWOOD (1996).

President of the British Society of Cinematographers, 1975 - 1977.
