Albert R. "Cubby" Broccoli

Born Alberto Romolo Broccoli in Astoria, Queens, NY; educated at CCNY. He was an agronomist before entering films in 1938 as an assistant director with 20TH Century-Fox. In the early 1950s he went to England, where, with Irving Allen, he founded Warwick Pictures. He produced a large number of competent pictures but was most successful as co-producer with Harry Saltzman of the James Bond film series, including DR. NO, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, GOLDFINGER, THUNDERBALL, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, LIVE AND LET DIE and THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. The Broccoli-Saltzman partnership dissolved in 1976, with Broccoli maintaining the rights to produce the lucrative Bond series through his company, EON ("Everything or Nothing") Productions.
