One of the most creative production designers of British and American films since the 1980s. He shared Academy Awards for the sets of GANDHI, DANGEROUS LIAISONS and THE ENGLISH PATIENT.

Other notable (non-nominated) credits include (as art director) A BRIDGE TOO FAR (1977) and SUPERMAN (1978); (as production designer) SATURN 3 and THE ELEPHANT MAN (both 1980), GREYSTOKE: THE LEGEND OF TARZAN, LORD OF THE APES (1984), CRY FREEDOM (1987), STARS AND BARS (1988), MEMPHIS BELLE (1990), THE SECRET GARDEN and SHADOWLANDS (both 1993), MARY REILLY and IN LOVE AND WAR (both 1996), THE AVENGERS (1998), NOTTING HILL (1999), THE LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE (2000), HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS (2002), HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN (2004), HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX (2007), and the concluding films in the "Harry Potter" series, HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE (2008) and HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS (2010).

Craig was awarded the O.B.E. (Officer of the British Empire) in the 2002 New Year's Eve Honours List.
