As Vera in Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974)
Born in Jackson Heights, New York City. The daughter of a popular radio actor, she moved into films after some stage experience, and was relegated mostly to supporting roles. In the late 1970s she began writing screenplays, often in collaboration with her husband, director Barry Levinson. They divorced in 1982. Her acting credits include work on films such as ALICE DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE (1974), ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN, MOTHER, JUGS & SPEED, SILENT MOVIE and SILVER STREAK (all 1976), THE LAST OF THE COWBOYS (1977), RABBIT TEST and A DIFFERENT STORY (both 1978), WHY WOULD I LIE? (1980), MAXIE (1985), and BIG TROUBLE (1986). Since the mid-1990s she has appeared exclusively on television in series such as "Frasier", "The District", "Just Shoot Me" and "ER". She is the cousin of TV (and occasionally movie) comedienne Jane Curtin of "Saturday Night Live" and "Third Rock from the Sun" fame.

Notable writing credits include "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (1970, TV), ...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL (1979), INSIDE MOVES (1980 - screenplay), BEST FRIENDS (1982), UNFAITHFULLY YOURS (1984) and TOYS (1992 - written by).

She is the cousin of TV (and occasionally movie) comedienne Jane Curtin of "Saturday Night Live" and "Third Rock from the Sun" fame.
