Born in Chicago, IL; educated at Ripon College, WI. Leading man whose craggy features and powerful physical presence enhanced some of Hollywood's most successful blockbusters of the 1970s and 80s. Ford shot to fame as arrogant space pilot Han Solo in the first installment of George Lucas's STAR WARS series, and established himself as a leading international star with his role as the archeologist hero of Steven Spielberg's INDIANA JONES chronicles. He earned a place in the hearts of cult movie audiences playing the cynical, robot-killing cop in BLADE RUNNER (1982) and proved capable of a wider emotional range with fine performances in WITNESS (1985) and PRESUMED INNOCENT (1990).

Ford was married to Mary Marquardt from 1964 to 1979. He married screenwriter Melissa Mathison in 1983; they divorced in 2004. He became romantically involved with actress Calista Flockhart.
