American screenwriter known for soft-edged comedy-dramas, often built on odd premises, and frequently co-written with Babaloo Mandel. He and Mandel have worked several times with director Ron Howard: NIGHT SHIFT (1982), SPLASH (1984), GUNG HO (1986), PARENTHOOD (1989) and EDTV (1999). They also teamed to write SPIES LIKE US (1985), VIBES (1988), CITY SLICKERS (1991), A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN and MR. SATURDAY NIGHT (both 1992), CITY SLICKERS II: THE LEGEND OF CURLY'S GOLD and GREEDY (both 1994), FORGET PARIS (1995), MULITPLICITY (1996), FATHERS' DAY (1997), WHERE THE HEART IS (2000), FEVER PITCH and ROBOTS (both 2005), and TOOTH FAIRY (2008). Ganz was executive producer of MR. SATURDAY NIGHT.
