Born in Sedbergh, England. Production designer who studied architecture at Cambridge and fine arts at the Slade before he entered British film in the mid-1960s as art director for THE KNACK... AND HOW TO GET IT (1965). Other notable credits include BLOWUP (1966, art director), RED AND BLUE (1967), WONDERWALL and THE BLISS OF MRS. BLOSSOM (both 1968), THE MAGIC CHRISTIAN and THE BED SITTING ROOM (both 1969), ZACHARIAH and GET CARTER (both 1971), THE PIED PIPER (1972), "The Martian Chronicles" (1980 mini-series), THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT'S WOMAN (1981), LEGEND and REVOLUTION (both 1985), LOST ANGELS (1989), FOR THE BOYS (1991), ROB ROY (1995), 101 DALMATIANS (1996) and SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE and 102 DALMATIANS (both 2000).
