Writer, producer and director who entered American film as a documentary filmmaker in the late 1960s (AMERICAN REVOLUTION 2, 1969; "8 Flags/99¢", 1970 - TV; THE MURDER OF FRED HAMPTON, 1971). Other notable credits include THE CHINA SYNDROME (1979, written by), WAVELENGTH (1983, writer & director), CODE OF SILENCE (1985, writer), "Starman" (1986 TV series - producer & director) and "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987, TV series - writer & co-producer).
