Born in New York City. Successful American playwright (The House of Blue Leaves, Six Degrees of Separation, et al.) nominated for his screenplay for Louis Malle's ATLANTIC CITY (1981). Other notable credits include TAKING OFF (1971), "The House of Blue Leaves" (1987, TV), SIX DEGRESS OF SEPARATION (1993 - screenplay) and "SUBWAY Stories: Tales from the Underground" (1997, TV: "The Red Shoes" segment).
