Speed Hopkins
(1948 - 1993)

Art director who entered American film in 1982 with Woody Allen's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S SEX COMEDY and continued that association for 10 more films: ZELIG (1983), RADIO DAYS and SEPTEMBER (both 1987), ANOTHER WOMAN (1988), CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS and NEW YORK STORIES (both 1989), ALICE (1990), HUSBANDS AND WIVES and SHADOWS AND FOG (both 1992) and MANHATTAN MURDER MYSTERY (1993). He also was art director for FALLING IN LOVE (1984), DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN (1985), F/X (1986) and THE AGE OF INNOCENCE (1993). He was production designer for QUICK CHANGE (1990). His Oscar® nomination came for being art director for the New York scenes in THE NATURAL (1984).

Hopkins died in Sparks, MD, of a viral infection at the age of 44.
