Born in Brooklyn, NY. A member of the original cast of Hair (1968), he became an integral part of the Disco movement in the 1970s. He wrote the Oscar®-winning song "Last Dance" for Donna Summer from the movie THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY. Other film credits include songs for the movies THE LORDS OF FLATBUSH (1974) and MOTHER, JUGS & SPEED (1976). He appeared as an actor in a number of films, including MIDNIGHT COWBOY (1969), THE LORDS OF FLATBUSH (1974), THE DAY OF THE LOCUST (1975), HONKY TONK FREEWAY (1981), STAR 80 (1983) and LEGAL EAGLES (1986).
He also released three solo albums on Casablanca, the company that made the TGIF movie. The best and cheesiest is his 1979 "The Third Album." which includes the "Disco Wedding/Disco Divorce" medley. His songwriting career is closely associated with the "queen of disco", Donna Summer. He also was instrumental in ushering Barbra Streisand into the dance movement. She sang his title song for the movie THE MAIN EVENT (1979). Together, divas Streisand and Summer dueted on Jabara's best-seller "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)". He was a co-founder of the symbolic Red Ribbon Project in 1991. Jabara conceptualized and distributed the very first AIDS red ribbon before succumbing to the disease in 1992.
