Michael J. Kohut

Sound recordist and re-recording mixer who began in television in the late 1960s and entered American film in 1972 as a boom operator for THE GETAWAY. Other notable (non-nominated) credits include COMA, AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, CORVETTE SUMMER, THE CHEAP DETECTIVE and CALIFORNIA SUITE (all 1978), THE CHAMP and CHAPTER TWO (both 1979), THE FORMULA (1980), RICH AND FAMOUS (1981), CANNERY ROW and ANNIE (both 1982), MR. MOM (1983), THE ICE PIRATES (1984), YEAR OF THE DRAGON and THE SLUGGER'S WIFE (both 1985), POLTERGEIST II: THE OTHER SIDE and CRIMES OF THE HEART (both 1986), THROW MOMMA FROM THE TRAIN (1987), THE PRESIDIO and DEAD POETS SOCIETY (both 1988), THE WAR OF THE ROSES (1989), IMPULSE (1990), and QUEENS LOGIC and his last film, THE PRINCE OF TIDES (both 1991).

in the early 2000s, Kohut became president of Sony Post-Production facilities.
