Born in New York City. Ms. Littman made her feature film directing debut in 1984 with TESTAMENT. Its star, Jane Alexander, received an Academy Award® nomination in the Best Actress category. Littman herself won an Academy Award for her documentary NUMBER OUR DAYS, based on the fieldwork of anthropologist Barbara Myerhoff.
The director spent many years as a film and television executive, developing material for production. While at ABC as Executive Producer of Movies for Television, Littman won a Cine Golden Eagle Award for her first live-action short film, "Running My Way." After her work on TESTAMENT, she returned to the documentary format, reuniting with Dr. Myerhoff for a final collaboration. The result was IN HER OWN TIME, which follows the anthropologist's study of the orthodox Jewish population in the Los Angeles Fairfax district. Littman received another Cine Golden Eagle Award for that documentary. After a near-fatal car crash that prevented her from working for more than a year, Littman created, in 1993, "Oscar's Tribute to Women," which opened the 65th Academy Awards broadcast. Recent directing credits include the 1996 special "finale" of "Cagney and Lacey: True Convictions," "Marie Taquet," an installment of the 1998 anthology "The Rescuers," for Showtime and Barbra Streisand's Barwood Productions; and "Freak City," also for Showtime and featuring Samantha Mathis, Jonathan Silverman, Marlee Matlin and Natalie Cole. Littman directed the 1999 CBS television movie, "Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years".
