Born in New York City; educated at the University of Missouri (journalism) and the Actors Studio. Rugged character actor in film since the late 1950s, often as a figure of authority. Loggia received an Oscar® nomination for his role as a seedy private detective in Richard Marquand's thriller, JAGGED EDGE (1985). He has also directed for TV.
