Born in Los Angeles, CA; son of composer Jack Marshall (1921-1973). Producer and sometiimes director who entered American film as an assistant to director Peter Bogdanovich for TARGETS (1968). He moved into producing first as a line producer for Orson Welles' THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND (1972), then as an associate producer for Bogdanovich's next 4 films PAPER MOON (1973), DAISY MILLER (1974), AT LONG LAST LOVE (1975) and NICKELODEON (1976, producer). After working with Martin Scorsese on THE LAST WALTZ as a line producer and serving as executive producer for Walter Hill's THE WARRIORS (1979), Marshall began his association with Steven Spielberg, producing RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (1981, also 2nd unit director) and its sequels: INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM (1984, exec. producer & 2nd unit director) and INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE (1989, exec. producer) and INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OFTHE CRYSTAL SKULL (2008).
