Born in Los Angeles, CA. Writer, actor, director and producer who entered the business as a writer for American television starting in the late 1950s. Scripts for TV series included "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.," "The Mothers-in-Law," "The Ghost & Mrs. Muir," "The Odd Couple," "Barefoot in the Park" and "Anna and the King." His first feature film credit was his collaboration on PRIVATE BENJAMIN (1980, also producer). He also scripted, alone or in collaboration, JEKYLL & HYDE... TOGETHER AGAIN (1982), CANNONBALL RUN II and PROTOCOL (both 1984), BAD MEDICINE (1985, also director) and GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER (1996, also director).
