Born in Bordeaux, France. Former industrial and documentary filmmaker who made his feature debut with BACK TO THE WALL (1959). Molinaro's fluid camera technique and light directorial touch were put to good use in his sensitive, humorous portrait of gay life, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES (1978) and its 1980 sequel. Since 1998, he has primarily worked as a writer and director of films and series made for French television.
