Born in London, England. Costume designer who entered British film as a uniform and military advisor for NICHOLAS AND ALEXANDER (1971). He worked as a historical advisor for BARRY LYNDON (1975), and STAR WARS was his first feature film as costume designer. Other notable (non-nominated) credits include ALIEN (1979), THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1980), OUTLAND (1981), THE LORDS OF DISCIPLINE (1983), GREYSTOKE: THE LEGEND OF TARZAN, LORD OF THE APES (1984), KING DAVID and REVOLUTION (both 1985), CRY FREEDOM (1987), WHITE HUNTER, BLACK HEART and AIR AMERICA (both 1990), CHAPLIN (1992), THE JUNGLE BOOK (1994) and the "Hornblower" series for British television (1998 - 2003).
