Harry Rasky

Biography and photo from Northern Stars

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Canadian producer, director and writer. He received more than 200 international prizes and citations for his work, including the Venice Film Award, the Golden Eagle, several Peabody awards, a DGA Award and an Oscar® nomination.

In 1992, he was given the lifetime award of the Association of Canadian Television and Radio Artists. The Denver International Film Festival called him "the world's most acclaimed nonfiction filmmaker."

Other notable credits include THE LEGEND OF SILENT NIGHT (1968-TV), UPON THIS ROCK (1970-TV), ARTHUR MILLER ON HOME GROUND (1979-TV), THE SONG OF LEONARD COHEN (1980), BEING DIFFERENT (1981), KARSH: THE SEARCHING EYE (1986) and WAR AGAINST THE INDIANS (1992).

Rasky died in hospital of heart failure while recovering from a hip fracture sustained at his home.
