Son of writer/director Nicholas Ray (1911-1979). Producer who entered American film as an actor in several films and TV series episodes from 1957 to 1963. Ray was assistant director for THE BIG T.N.T. SHOW (1966), A TIME FOR KILLING (1967), an episode of "Bewitched" (1968, TV), BOB & CAROL & TED & ALICE and CACTUS FLOWER (both 1969), THE LIBERATION OF L.B. JONES (1970), VALDEZ IS COMING (1971), KID BLUE (1973) and HARRY AND TONTO (1974). Other notable producing credits include ALEX IN WONDERLAND (1970, assoc. prod. & ass't director), BLUME IN LOVE (1973, assoc. prod.), FREEBIE AND THE BEAN (1974, assoc. prod.), NEXT STOP, GREENWICH VILLAGE (1976), AN UNMARRIED WOMAN (1978), THE ROSE (1979, exec. prod.), and WILLIE AND PHIL (1980).
