Peter Regla designs coordinated servo controllers and electro-mechanical assemblies. With over 25 years of achievement, he has earned recognition in pneumatic, electronic, and mechanical design and fabrication of interactive exhibit systems and animatronics. He has contributed his talents to the aerospace, motion picture, and defense industries.
Regla has designed high accuracy motion tracking camera systems used by the Defense Mapping Administration and is well versed in animation/animatronics using PLCs and PC control. His practical experience includes friction drive technology, precision servo systems, motion picture visual effects design, and integrated robotic systems. In addition, Regla is an accomplished editor and author of books and articles focused on special effects and robotics. He has earned national recognition by receiving Technical Achievement awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. At Exhibit Engineering in Pensacola, FL, some of his recent projects include the Hong Kong Science Museum, the California Museum of Science & Industry, the MGM Studio Tour Special Effects Stage, the Manatee Exhibit at Sea World, Florida, and the National Wildlife Visitor Center. Regla worked on the electronics design for the production of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (1977), and he was an optical consultant for BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS (1980).
