Born in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada. He began his theatrical career as an actor and worked briefly as a producer before turning to writing. The author of numerous television plays, he was educated in England, and currently lives in Los Angeles.
Primarily writing for television ("Bewitched", "The Flying Nun" and "The Partidge Family"), his other notable screen credits (alone or in collaboration) include STAND UP AND BE COUNTED (1972), SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR (1978, play and screenplay), TRIBUTE (1980, play and screenplay), ROMANTIC COMEDY (1983 - also play), and GRANDES OCASIONES (1998 - play).
