Makeup artist and supervisor who entered British film in 1956 (AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS). Other notable credits include SOLOMON AND SHEBA (1959), THE V.I.P.s and THE HAUNTING (both 1963), THE YELLOW ROLLS-ROYCE (1964), REPULSION (1965), KHARTOUM (1966), THE FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLES (1967), ANNE OF THE THOUSAND DAYS (1969), MACBETH (1971), SLEUTH (1972), THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT (1975), A BRIDGE TOO FAR (1977), THE SHINING (1980), RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (1981), RETURN OF THE JEDI (1983) and his last film, INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM (1984). Smith subsequently worked on the TV mini-series "A Woman of Substance" (1984) and the made-for-TV movie "Hold the Dream" (1986).
