"Breaker" Morant (1980)
Born in Tiberias, Palestine (now Israel), of Dutch parents. Director, writer, playwright and producer who was educated in England and Jordan, trained at RADA in London, was an actor then stage manager in England then went to New Zealand. First a stage director then a radio actor, then director. He next went into TV directing in Australia in the mid-1970s. Notable writing credits include "The Outsiders" (1976, TV series), "BREAKER" MORANT (1980), "Alex Haley's Queen" (1993, TV mini-series), THE SUM OF US (1994, also play), "The Thorn Birds: The Missing Years" (1996, TV), "Merlin" (1998, teleplay), "Aftershock: Earthquake in New York" (1999, teleplay) and "Jackie, Ethel, Joan: The Women of Camelot" (2001, teleplay).

Stevens' directing credits include episodes of "The Outsiders", "Homicide" (1972-76, 18 episodes), "Solo One" (1976, 6 episodes), "The Sullivans" (also 1976), ROSES BLOOM TWICE (1977), "A Town Like Alice" (1981, TV mini-series), THE CLINIC (1982), UNDERCOVER (1983), "A Thousand Skies" (1985, TV mini-series), and KANSAS (1988),
