Ghost Busters (1984)

Optical and visual effects supervisor and 2nd unit director of photography who entered American film in 1980 performing optical line-up for THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. Other notable visual effects credits include RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and DRAGONSLAYER (both 1981), POLTERGEIST (1982), RETURN OF THE JEDI (1983), 2010 (1984), FRIGHT NIGHT (1985), POLTERGEIST II: THE OTHER SIDE and THE BOY WHO COULD FLY (both 1986), MOONSTRUCK (1987 - moon opticals), GHOSTBUSTERS II (1989), FLIGHT OF THE INTRUDER (1991), IN THE LINE OF FIRE (1993), CITY SLICKERS II: THE LEGEND OF CURLY'S GOLD (1994), OUTBREAK and WATERWORLD (both 1995), TURBULENCE (1997) and DESPERATE MEASURES (1998). Since the late 1990s, Vargo has concentrated on directing second unit photography for features such as TIN CUP, ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE and MOUSEHUNT (all 1997), PAULIE and DEEP IMPACT (both 1998), STUART LITTLE and THE GREEN MILE (both 1999),THE PATRIOT (2000), THE SALTON SEA, STUART LITTLE 2 and DARK BLUE (both 2002), RUNAWAY JURY (2003), GARFIELD and CATWOMAN (both 2004), THE RING TWO (2005), POSEIDON (2006), 3:10 TO YUMA (2007) and G-FORCE ((scheduled for 2009).  Nominated for Visual Effects 1984: GHOST BUSTERS (w.
