Having written the screenplay adaptation for Milos Forman's HAIR (1979), Weller adapted the E. L. Doctorow novel Ragtime for Forman's 1981 film version. Other screenwriting credits include LOST ANGELS (1989), "Spoils of War" (1994, TV series - teleplay from his play) and "Once and Again" (1999, TV series).  Nominated for Writing (Best Screenplay based on material from another medium) 1981: RAGTIME 1 nomination
