Born Daniel Edward Aykroyd in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; educated at Carleton College, Ottawa (criminology). Popular comic star who began his career with the Toronto company of the Second City comedy troupe. Aykroyd first came to prominence on the "Saturday Night Live" TV show, and after a decade of humorous romps, earned an Oscar® nomination for his first dramatic role, as the dutiful son in DRIVING MISS DAISY (1989).
