Tom Berenger

Born in Chicago, IL; educated at the University of Missouri (journalism, education, drama). Ruggedly handsome, blue-eyed lead of the 80s, often in brooding, aggressive roles, who came to attention as the self-effacing TV star in THE BIG CHILL (1983) and received acclaim for his performance as the battle-hardened sergeant in PLATOON (1986). Berenger began his career with studies at the Herbert Berghof Studio in New York and moved into films after doing time on the daytime soap "One Life to Live" and performing in several off-Broadway productions.

Other notable credits include RUSTLERS' RHAPSODY (1985), SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME (1987), BETRAYED and LAST RITES (both 1988), MAJOR LEAGUE and BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY (both 1989), THE FIELD (1990), AT PLAY IN THE FIELDS OF THE LORD (1991), SNIPER, SLIVER and GETTYSBURG (all 1993), MAJOR LEAGUE II (1994), THE SUBSTITUTE (1996), THE GINGERBREAD MAN and SHADOW OF DOUBT (both 1998), FEAR OF FLYING, TAKEDOWN and CUTAWAY (all 2000), TRAINING DAY, THE HOLLYWOOD SIGN, TRUE BLUE and WATCHTOWER (all 2001), D-TOX (2002), THE CHRISTMAS MIRACLE OF JONATHAN TOOMEY and ORDER OF REDEMPTION (both 2007), and STILETTO (scheduled for 2008).

Since 2000, Berenger has performed extensively on television, in both made-for-TV movies and TV series such as "Third Watch" (2003), "Peacemakers" (also 2003) and "October Road" (2007).
