Born in London, England. Leading cinematographer best known for his work with director Ridley Scott. Biddle began his career as a camera assistant on Scott's first two features, THE DUELLISTS (1977) and ALIEN (1979), before establishing himself as a cinematographer on commercials. His first feature film in that capacity was James Cameron's slick, action-packed sequel, ALIENS (1986), which he followed with the somewhat lighter, sun-dappled imagery of two charming, distinctive fantasy films, Rob Reiner's THE PRINCESS BRIDE (1987) and the George Lucas-Ron Howard adventure WILLOW (1988). Other notable credits include THELMA & LOUISE (1991), 1492: CONQUEST OF PARADISE (1992), CITY SLICKERS II: THE LEGEND OF CURLY'S GOLD (1994), JUDGE DREDD (1995), 101 DALMATIANS (1996), FIERCE CREATURES, THE BUTCHER BOY and EVENT HORIZON (all 1997), HOLY MAN (1998), THE MUMMY and THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH (both 1999), THE WEIGHT OF WATER and 102 DALMATIANS (both 2000), THE MUMMY RETURNS (2001), REIGN OF FIRE (2002), SHANGHAI NIGHTS (2003), LAWS OF ATTRACTION and BRIDGET JONES: THE EDGE OF REASON (both 2004) and AN AMERICAN HAUNTING and V FOR VENDETTA (both 2005).
