Born in Atlanta, GA. American novelist and screenwriter, whose credits include CONRACK (1974, novel The Water Is Wide), THE GREAT SANTINI (1979, novel), THE LORDS OF DISCIPLINE (1983, novel), UNCONQUERED (1998, TV - teleplay) and THE PRINCE OF TIDES (1991, novel & screenplay).
