Michael Fink has supervised visual effects on several films, including THE GOLDEN COMPASS (2007), CONSTANTINE (2005, also 2nd unit director), X2 (2003), ROAD TO PERDITION, CLOCKSTOPPERS and THE MOTHMAN PROPHESIES (all 2002), VANILLA SKY and THIR13EN GOSTS (both 2001), X-MEN (2000), LETHAL WEAPON 4 (1998), CONTACT (1997), MARS ATTACKS! and ERASER (both 1996) and BRAVEHEART (1995), and he received an Academy Award® nomination for his work on BATMAN RETURNS (1992), which included supervising the creation of the first digital creatures based on actual animals in a feature film.
Fink also worked on or supervised the visual effects for BABY'S DAY OUT (1994), HARYLEY DAVIDSON AND THE MARLBORO MAN (1991), ROBOCOP 2 and THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER (both 1990), TANGO & CASH (1989), THE BLOB and THE SEVENTH SIGN (both 1988), PROJECT X (1987), SHORT CIRCUIT (1986), D.A.R.Y.L. (1985), THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI ACROSS THE 8TH DIMENSION (1984), and WARGAMES (1983). He was the action property supervisor for BLADE RUNNER (1982), and he worked on special props and miniatures for STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE (1979). Fink worked as 2nd unit director for THE SEVENTH SIGN (1988) and SUPERMAN RETURNS (2006). His commercial work includes the Coca-Cola Polar Bear spots and ads for Budweiser, Taco Bell, Cheetos and more. He is on the Executive Committee of the Visual Effects Branch of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), and serves on the Board of the Visual Effects Society.
