Sound designer and sound effects editor who entered American film with HARDCORE (1977). Hall is the former Senior Vice-President of Post Production Sound at Paramount Studios. She began working there in 1978 as a Supervising Sound Editor and from 1978 to 1992 she supervised numerous motion pictures for Paramount, including WITNESS, STAR TREK I, II, & III, BEVERLY HILLS COP I & II, TOP GUN, TERMS OF ENDEARMENT, THE ADDAMS FAMILY I & II, SEARCHING FOR BOBBY FISHER, and THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER.

Ms. Hall was the first woman nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Sound Effects Editing in 1987, for TOP GUN (1986). Ms. Hall has been nominated for many MPSE Golden Reel Awards, and she won the Golden Reel Award for "Something So Right" (1982, TV) and TOP GUN. In 1991, she was nominated again for both the American and the British Academy Awards, and won the Oscar® for Best Sound FX Editing for THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER.

As a Senior Executive at Paramount, Ms. Hall also oversaw Post Production Sound for THE HOURS, ALFIE and STARDUST in London, FAILURE TO LAUNCH, HOT ROD and STOP-LOSS in New York, THE ITALIAN JOB, PATRIOT GAMES, CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, FOUR BROTHERS, TEAM AMERICA, CASE #39, and the recent retelling of the E.B. White classic CHARLOTTE'S WEB in Los Angeles, to name a few. In addition, Ms. Hall also assisted in the completion of both live-action and animated films from a variety of Viacom subsidiaries, such as Nickelodeon's "Sponge Bob," NACHO LIBRE, BARNYARD, MTV Films' TUPAC: RESURRECTION, HUSTLE & FLOW, GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN', JACK ASS 2, and Paramount Vantage's BABEL and BLACK SNAKE MOAN.

Ms. Hall served on the Executive Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and on the Board of the Motion Picture Sound Editors, and was the first woman elected President of that organization in 1984. She is a professor at the UCLA Graduate School of Film, Television and Digital Media at UCLA, where she has been teaching Sound Design / Post Production since 1995.
