Born in Mammoth Springs, AR; educated at Arkansas State University (Beebe) and Southwest Missouri State College (Springfield). Made an impressive debut opposite Robert Duvall in TENDER MERCIES (1983) and earned an Oscar® nomination for her role as a nosy neighbor in CRIMES OF THE HEART (1986).
