Born in New York City; son of Muppets creator Jim Henson. Henson literally grew up at the Jim Henson Co., working alongside his father from the time he was 6 years old and appearing in the very first episode of "Seasame Street". He expanded his knowledge and prestige by accepting puppetry and special effects assignments in a variety of feature films, including THE MUPPETS TAKE MANHATTAN, RETURN TO OZ and SANTA CLAUS: THE MOVIE. He returned to work for Jim Henson Productions in 1986, training and casting performers for the company's productions. His first project was to lead the team of puppeteers who performed Hoggle, an elaborate animatronic character featured in the fantasy film, LABYRINTH (1986). Also in 1986, Mr. Henson co-supervised the crew of 40 performers used to manipulate the giant man-eating plant, Audrey II, in the film LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. Following that, he performed in an coordinated the crew of puppeteers for the company's Emmy Award-winning series, :The Storyteller," and "Greek Myths." Henson next served as the puppeteer coordinator for the Jim Henson/Nickolas Roeg film, THE WITCHES. In 1989, Henson's expertise in animatronic puppetry earned him the position of chief puppeteer and second unit director on the hit movie, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. He went on to direct the ACE award-winning children's television series, "Jim Henson's Mother Goose Stories," for which he received an Emmy Award for "Outstanding Directing in a Children's Program." He took over as president and CEO of the Jim Henson Co. after Jim Henson's death in May 1990, Henson directed and produced the hit feature film, THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL (1992). The film was released to non-English speaking countries worldwide in December 1993. He then was named chairman and CEO in 1995 when Charles Rivkin was promoted to president and chief operating officer. When the company was sold to EM.TV in February 2000, Rivkin took on the CEO title. In 2002, Henson stepped away from management responsibilities of the company to concentrate on producing and directing. He remained an executive producer on the Henson-produced Sci-Fi Channel series "Farscape" and the Muppet holiday movie for NBC. He continued to develop feature projects through Jim Henson Pictures, which was headed by his sister, Lisa Henson. In 2003, Henson and his siblings acquired the Jim Henson Company from the bankrupt EM.TV, which placed it back into the hands of the Henson family. Unsensored" (2006, TV series), and "Tinseltown" (2007, TV series).
