Writer and associate producer of FULL METAL JACKET (1987). He also wrote the narration segments of APOCALYPSE NOW (1979) and THE RAINMAKER (1997). A former writer for Esquire magazine, he was a close associate of Stanley Kubrick in England and helped Kubrick polish Frederic Raphael's screenplay of EYES WIDE SHUT (1999), Kubrick's last film.
