James Ketcham

JSK Engineering has been providing solutions to film sound re-recording since 1987. JSK products can be found on all major sound stages through-out Hollywood and the world. James S. Ketcham, President and main design engineer for JSK, has over twenty years of experience in film sound engineering, collaborating with the best engineers and mixers in post production sound, including, Lucas / Skywalker Sound, Warner Brothers Hollywood and Burbank Post Production Sound Department, Fox, Sony andÊ Disney Studios.

Ketcham holds a degree in engineering and applied science from the California Institute of Technology. He is the recipient of 1990 and 1995 Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Technical Awards for excellence in Engineering and Design. He is also the recipient of the Samuel L. Warner Memorial Medal from the Society of Motion Picture and Theater Engineers for his hardware and software designs in the interlocking techniques between film and video equipment. He is also recognized for his ground-breaking work in the design of digital audio for theater projection. He was a primary collaborator in the design and development of Digital Theater Systems 5.1 Surround sound for motion picture theaters. Ketcham belongs to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and to SMPTE.

 Scientific and Engineering Award (Plaque) 1989: For the excellence in engineering and the broad adaptability of the SDA521B Advance/Retard system for magnetic film sound dubbing.
 Scientific and Engineering Award (Plaque) 1994: For the concept and design of the MC211 microprocessor-based motion controller for synchronizing sprocketed film with time code-based machines. (JSK Engineering)
