Born in New York City. Veteran Hollywood producer who began his career as an assistant cutter (editor) at 20th Century-Fox. Koch began turning out films in the 1950s, acted as a producer for Frank Sinatra Enterprises from 1961 to 1964 and enjoyed a longterm association with Paramount Pictures, where he was vice president in charge of production from 1964 to 1966.
Notable producing credits (usually as executive producer) include SERGEANTS 3 and THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE (both 1962), COME BLOW YOUR HORN and 4 FOR TEXAS (both 1963), ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS (1964), NONE BUT THE BRAVE (1965), THE PRESIDENT'S ANALYST (1967), THE ODD COUPLE (1968), ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER (1970), PLAZA SUITE and STAR SPANGLED GIRL (both 1971), LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS (1973), THE OTHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT (1977) and DRAGONSLAYER (1981). Son Howard W. "Hawk" Koch Jr. (b. 1945) is also a producer (HEAVEN CAN WAIT, 1978; GORKY PARK, 1983; et al.).
