Christoph & Wolfgang Lauenstein are identical twins and were born in Hildesheim, West Germany in 1962. They finished high school in 1983 and went on to study film, Christoph at the University of Kassel, Wolfgang at the Hamburg Art Academy. Together they have made the films: "The Strangers" 1980, "Sidetrip" 1982, "Pthecanthropus Erectus" 1986, "Balance" 1988. They also directed the "Middle of the Riddle" segment of the video SONGLINES (1989). In 2006, they worked on the special effects for the animation sequence in THE FALL. The Lauensteins' win for Animated Short Films in 1990 made them the third pair of twins to win Academy Awards®.  Best Achievement in Animated Short Films 1989: BALANCE - Producer (w.
