Born in Lombard, IL; raised in Oak Park, IL; educated at the University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana (voice). Classically trained actress who made her screen debut as Gina, the sister of Tony Montana (Al Pacino), in SCARFACE (1983). A small role Mastrantonio had previously played in Martin Scorsese's THE KING OF COMEDY (1983) failed to make the final cut of the film; the director was so impressed with her performance, however, that he cast her as the female lead in THE COLOR OF MONEY (1986), leading to an Oscar® nomination for best supporting actress.
Other notable credits include SLAM DANCE (1987), JANUARY MAN and THE ABYSS (both 1989), FOOLS OF FORTUNE (1990), "Uncle Vanya" (TV), CLASS ACTION and ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THEIVES (all 1991), WHITE SANDS and CONSENTING ADULTS (both 1992), THREE WISHES and TWO BITS (both 1995), LIMBO and MY LIFE SO FAR (both 1999), THE PERFECT STORM (2000), TABLOID (2001), STANDING ROOM ONLY (2004), and STORIES OF LOST SOULS (2006). Mastrantonio appeared as Anne Cassidy on the CBS television series "Without a Trace" (2005-06).
